Bike-A-Thon 2023

I love to explore and travel by bike, especially in the beautiful city of Boston. I plan to spend part of the day Sunday (9/17) biking 35 miles to raise funds for an awesome organization, Bike Not Bombs (BNB)! It is an organization that holds a special place in my heart – great people, strong mission, and is a part of the community I love. Community is critical to happiness so let's continue to build it. They are having a celebration starting at 12:30; if you are around JP, you should join!

More about BNB - Bikes Not Bombs uses the bicycle as a vehicle for social change to achieve economic mobility for Black and other marginalized people in Boston and the Global South. Every year, they collect ~5,000 used bicycles and used parts from supporters around Greater Boston and New England. They have a pretty dope bike shop too that is all about reusing.

I'm truly inspired by their mission and the positive impact they create through the simple yet transformative act of cycling. Let’s get on our bikes and ride Sunday, 9/17, or contribute some $$$. Money will go towards:

Engageing over 200 people in Bike School at our Hub in Jamaica Plain and at our new Roxbury Hub at Children's Services of Roxbury;
Employing over 40 young people as paid Youth Apprentices who build critical workplace skills in a supportive and caring environment.
Providing free and affordable bike repair services to underserved communities in Boston through our Chain Reaction mobile bike repair program.
Shiping thousands of bicycles overseas to our partners in the Global South who are working to advance environmental, economic, and social justice initiatives.
