Sign-Up FAQ

How do I sign up?

You can sign up online by clicking "Register" in the upper navigation menu. You will also be able to sign up on-site, although signing up online will expedite the check-in process for all of us. If you register online prior to the Friday before the walk and raise $25 or more, we will have an END THE SILENCE t-shirt in your size available at check-in! (T-shirts are not guaranteed to those who register on-site.) For Virtual Walkers, T-shirts will be mailed upon qualification after May 9.

I won't be attending the event in-person, but can I still participate?

Yes! You can sign up to be a "Virtual Walker" and still provide your support without physically being at the event. Click "Register"  in the upper navigation menu to start the registration process and make sure you choose "Virtual Walker." You will then have your own unique fundraising page to encourage your friends and family to donate!

I just registered for the walk. Now what?

First of all, thank you for registering to walk with us! We're so glad that you're helping us End the Silence around suicide.

After you register, you will be brought to your Fundraising Dashboard.

This is the unique page created just for you! Edit your page by adding a little explanation behind the walk and tell people why you are choosing to participate in this event. Not only can you keep track of your online donors through this page, but you can also accept offline donations (like cash or checks) and enter them into your account to receive credit towards your Goal! You can also do things like:

  •  register other walkers (like your partner or siblings)
  •  manage your personal Goal
  •  invite friends and family to donate directly through e-mail or Facebook posts
  •  or create or join a team of walkers!

If you choose to create or join a team, your team will also have a unique fundraising page which will be linked to each of the team members' personal page.

How do I change the goal amount on my personal page? Why did the goal amount and the total raised amount change on my Team page?

To adjust your personal goal, you will you will need to log into your account.

The Team goal increases automatically with each additional team member. To manually adjust your team's goal, the team captain will need to log into their account.

To log into your account, come back to this website and click "Log In or Sign Up" in the upper right hand corner. Enter the email that you used when you registered. From your Fundraising Dashboard, scroll down to your thermometer and click "Update My Goal".

More FAQ

I lost someone to suicide; how can I honor them at this event?

We are so sorry. Suicide sucks. And we understand. We would love for you to walk with us on May 22 in honor of your lost loved one. Please consider bringing a photo of your loved one to the walk for our photo gallery. The photo will be returned to you at the end of our event. If you register to fundraise online, please feel free to talk about your loved one on your fundraising page. You can also add someone's name to any donation that you give.

We are so glad you found our event and we hope that you'll reach out to us to share your story, if you are able. It's a terrible thing to have in common, but there is hope for all of us as suicide loss survivors - especially if we can talk about Ending the Silence together.

How can I learn more about suicide prevention?

Any of the four non-profit organizations behind this event - the Samaritans on Cape Cod and the Islands, the Cape and Islands Suicide Prevention Coalition, NAMI Cape Cod & The Islands and Sharing Kindness, Inc. - have resources available either online or in person. Please visit their websites through the icons on the bottom of this page. There will also be educational material available before and after the walk.
