Why I Climb
Being active and independent has always been important to me. Over the past several years, I've dealt with chronic health issues that have made me reflect on the value of mobility and the struggle of navigating healthcare. Some days my mountain is climbing a Colorado 14er or racing in a triathlon, and some days my mountain is getting out of bed and making it through the day. We all have mountains in our life, but lack of access to prosthetic care should never be one of them. That's why I'm proud to support the Range of Motion Project, to celebrate what mobility means and to fight for mobility for all!
To me, mobility is freedom! It can mean the freedom to engage with the community, explore, stay healthy, be independent and take on new opportunities. It's something that many of us take for granted unless our mobility becomes compromised. Unfortunately, poor access to healthcare and the extraordinary expense of mobility devices limits many from their mobility. The Range of Motion Project helps to make mobility possible for individuals with limb loss, with the vision of mobility for all.
This year is the 10th Annual Climbing for ROMP! To commemorate the significance of the 10th Annual Climbing for ROMP, we have an ambitious goal: THREE teams climbing the THREE highest mountains in Ecuador (Chimborazo 20,549 ft, Cotopaxi 19,347 ft and Cayambe 18,996 ft) and we are inviting thousands of people to join us in solidarity worldwide!
Over the next several months, I will be training in preparation to attempt to summit one of the highest peaks in Ecuador and personally fundraise $10,000 to fund high-quality prosthetics for those who need them most!
Please consider making a donation to be part of this amazing mission for the 10th Annual Climbing for ROMP! Every dollar counts!
