Dear Family and Friends,

For the past 15 years or so, the rare, incurable, and progressive disease known as CMT has changed my life in a profound way. I don't feel the need to detail the symptoms. You have seen those develop and progress over the years. Instead, I want to focus on the positive.

I have tried my best over the years to carry my cross with a renewed faith, perseverance, and gratitude for the countless blessings including the love, prayers, and support from you.

A cure in my lifetime has never been much of a thought or focus for me. My prayer has always been healing if it is God's will, and for the graces necessary to accept this cross and trust in God's plan. If a cure was to be found, it would be an amazing blessing, and the result of the increased funding, research, and awareness driven by organizations like the CMT Research Foundation, a patient led nonprofit. The mission is clear and direct: "Dedicated to research committed to a cure."

Turns out my diagnosis of CMT 2C might not be correct. A new subtype was discovered a few years ago. Some people like myself may have been misdiagnosed. If in fact, I do have this new ly identified sub type, it would be very good news. Without explaining all the science and details, a simple blood test as opposed to complex genetic testing can tell me.

Not only is the testing much less complex, the road to cure may be as well. September is CMT Awareness Month. This  fundraiser benefits the CMT Research Foundation. Please check it out and consider donating if you are able.
