The Lo Down Crew: Walking in Faith, Gratitude, and Purpose
Our three children, Layne, Livi and Logan, are, without question, our greatest blessings. Each of them has shaped us, stretched us, and brought more joy to our lives than we could ever put into words.
When we learned during pregnancy that our youngest child, Logan, had Down syndrome, we found ourselves entering waters we had not navigated before. There was uncertainty in our parenthood journey — questions about what life might look like, what support he might need, and how we could best prepare to welcome and care for him.
Looking back, we can see God's hand in every part of Logan’s story — in the doctors, therapists, nurses, family members, friends, and community who have surrounded us; in the strength He gave us for hard days; and in the joy He placed right in front of us through Logan’s life.
Logan is a gift. His life has stretched our faith, deepened our perspective, and reminded us again and again that every person is created with purpose, value, and immeasurable worth. He brings light, laughter, and love everywhere he goes, and we are endlessly grateful that God chose us to be his parents.
Our journey has also come with real challenges. We have walked through medical complexity, long hospital days, hard decisions, and moments where we needed support, encouragement, and people who truly understood. Along the way, we have been reminded again and again how important community is — and how powerful it is when people show up for one another.
That is why DSAL means so much to us.
The Down Syndrome Association of the Lowcountry exists to support individuals with Down syndrome and their families through connection, education, advocacy, resources, and community. DSAL welcomes new families, creates opportunities for belonging, helps parents feel less alone, and celebrates the incredible value and potential of every person with Down syndrome.
This year is especially meaningful for our family as Britton steps into the role of DSAL President. She is honored to serve this community that has meant so much to us and to help build the kind of support system we know families need — from the earliest days of a diagnosis through every stage of life.
When you give to The Lo Down Crew, you are not just supporting our family’s team. You are investing in DSAL’s mission and helping make programs, resources, and moments of connection possible for families across the Lowcountry.
Your gift helps support new family outreach, parent connection, educational programming, Buddy Camp, community events, grants, advocacy efforts, and opportunities for individuals with Down syndrome and their families to be seen, supported, and celebrated.
We are walking for Logan.
We are walking for every family stepping into unknown waters.
We are walking for a community that believes every life is created by God with purpose, dignity, and worth.
Thank you for loving our family, cheering on Logan, and supporting DSAL. We are so grateful to have you as part of our village.
With love and gratitude,
Harper & Britton
