Camp del Corazon is more than just a summer camp. It is ALSO a community that creates a space where kids who are always on the outside, feel like they're not alone. We make magical moments of success for chronically ill kids, transforming their self-worth, confidence, resilience, and outlook.

This summer, my 5th on the island, I was a cabin counselor to a cabinfull of 17-year-old "grads" who were facing their last year at Camp. It was powerful to experience their reflection alongside them over the course of 5 days, as they transformed into leaders and role models for the younger campers. It was a gift and a privilege to witness what Camp means to them and how Camp has changed them throughout their time at Camp. As we talked in a circle on the dock at sunrise on the last morning, every single grad shared that Camp had allowed them to become the best version of themselves, and they were proud to take that home.
