If you found your way to this page because you know me, then you know I spent summer 2019 cycling across the country with the Fuller Center for Housing. It wasn't my first involvement with the Fuller Center, but it was the first time I joined the bike adventure team and fundraised for the work that the Fuller Center does. This summer, the Fuller Center isn't able to have bike adventures. As a result, the fundraising that typically occurs as adventurers take the roads on two wheels in their orange jerseys has slowed.

Yet, people still need adequate housing. One aspect of the Fuller Center that drew me to it is its sense of community. As a member of that community, I'm choosing to do what I can to continue to support it. I'm lucky enough to have a warm, safe space to live and the ability to explore the outdoors during this uncertain time. Not everyone is so fortunate, and that's why I joined my fellow 2019 bike adventure friends on the Global Home Challenge for some safely distanced adventuring and fundraising!

Here's some info on the Fuller Center and the challenge:

"We're collectively undertaking 50,000 miles to virtually traverse the globe -- 80 countries in 80 days -- and raise at least $200,000, with your help. 

Globally, houses of mud walls and floors combined with poor sanitation create an environment for life-threatening diseases like Chagas, severe diarrhea, cholera, typhoid, and malaria. Diarrhea alone claims the lives of more than 800,000 children every year (Source: CDC).

The work of The Fuller Center for Housing seeks to address these issues. It's an ecumenical Christian 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to helping families of all backgrounds have decent, healthy homes in 70 communities around the USA and in 19 countries around the world. With the devastating loss of volunteer trips and fundraising events, all at a time when people are being told to 'stay in your homes,' this support is needed now more than ever."
