This walk means so much to us because our twin boys, Emmett and Ozzy, are both heart warriors. Shortly after they were born, we learned they each had congenital heart defects, beginning a journey that has shaped our family in ways we never expected.

Ozzy underwent open heart surgery as a newborn to repair a ventricular septal defect, and today he is doing incredibly well. Seeing him grow, gain strength, and truly thrive has been the greatest gift. Emmett’s journey looks a little different, and later this year he will undergo a catheter-based procedure to repair his PDA. Through every appointment, procedure, and milestone, we’ve experienced firsthand the incredible impact of research, medical advancements, and compassionate care.

That’s why we are proud to walk in support of The Children’s Heart Foundation and its mission to fund groundbreaking congenital heart defect research. Every 15 minutes, a baby is born with a CHD, making it the most common birth defect in the United States. The research funded through CHF helps improve diagnoses, treatments, surgical outcomes, and quality of life for children like Emmett and Ozzy.
