Hike with the Barracudas

And help raise funds to find families for older kids in foster care and orphanages

Would you be a CHAMPION FOR KIDS?

On Sept. 24, our team of (land-based) barracudas will hike (or stroll) though a gorgeous hidden gem of a park in Alexandria, Virginia. Why?  To be a part of a nationwide network of local hikes that day raising funds and getting together to help kids find permanent loving families. I hope you will join our little group and help older kids in foster care here in the US and in orphanages around the world!

Over 440,000 kids in the US and 8 million worldwide are in child welfare systems like foster programs and orphanages. Since 1999, Kidsave's work has positively impacted the lives of well over 560,000 children worldwide, including 15,000+ in the US.

I want to give kids the chance to start a new chapter and live a life of hope, love, and acceptance! Kids just like Julie who was adopted (via Zoom) in the midst of lockdown after being in foster care for four years.

Julie met her parents, Kelly and Delaney, through Kidsave's Weekend Miracles program. Their journey as a blossoming family was captured in The Day I Picked My Parents documentary series (viewable on Hulu and A&E).  See more about Julie’s Adoption Story!

Because of people just like you and me, who care deeply about kids who need families, Kidsave has been able to train governments and social workers in the US and abroad in implementing the Family Visit Model.  Working in partnership with governments and local non-profits, Kidsave’s model shows communities how to be part of the solution. The model is at work on four continents.

In the US, we are helping older, forgotten kids in foster care in Los Angeles and Houston find adoptive parents and lasting connections to caring adults. We're also at work in Colombia, Sierra Leone and Ukraine -- where our mission has grown from getting the 117 kids we'd just placed in families out of war zones, to rescuing 24,000 people and now reguarly feeding 35,000.

My personal goal is to raise $1,000. If you can’t hike that day but would like to help reach that goal, any size donation would be most welcome, and it is tax deductible.

We’ll meet at 9:30 a.m. that Saturday, and hike for about an hour. You will be helping address a global problem that transforms young lives and gives kids growing up alone a real future.

Thank so much for reading this!  I hope to see you there!
