I have been volunteering with Kitten Rescue since July of 2017. Kitten Rescue is a non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and placement of homeless animals. Each year they rescue over 1,000 cats (and some dogs!) from the streets and city shelters and place them into new homes. Kitten Rescue is on the forefront of making Los Angeles a No-Kill City and they will not stop until all of the shelters are empty and every animal has a loving home. And since Kitten Rescue is a 501c3, donations made are tax-deductible.

The Kitten Rescue Sanctuary is home to up to 150 special needs cats and around 1000 animals are cared for in foster homes at any given time. In 2016 Kitten Rescue opened the Kitten Rescue Nursery, where they bottle feed orphaned, unweaned kittens around the clock.

As an animal lover, I felt I needed to give back to the well-being of the animals and the community who work on their behalf. Volunteering is important to me as a means of connecting with others and growing as an individual. By running the 5K on behalf of Kitten Rescue, I can use my interest in fitness to see that cats and kittens can get the medical treatments they need and eventually find forever homes.
