What is the Love Ride?

The Love Ride began in 1981 when Oliver Shokouh, a young Harley-Davidson dealer in Glendale, CA, hosted a small biker’s carnival to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association. That first event raised just $1,500, but it proved one important thing—motorcyclists would show up for a cause.

By 1984, Oliver transformed the fundraiser into something bigger: the ride itself became the event. With the support of friends, volunteers, and good-hearted celebrities like Peter Fonda and Robby Krieger, the very first official Love Ride drew over 500 riders and raised $42,000. From there, it grew into the largest single-day motorcycle charity event in the world, drawing tens of thousands of participants, raising over $25 million for national and local causes, and featuring legendary performers from Bruce Springsteen to BB King.

More than just a fundraiser, the Love Ride became a community—uniting riders, celebrities, musicians, and fans from across the globe in the spirit of generosity, music, and camaraderie.

Now, after decades of memories and impact, the tradition continues. The Love Ride is back this November for its 34th event—ready to make history once again.

Every $50 raised by a fundraiser earns one entry into the Love Ride 34 Raffle for a chance to win a 2025 Harley-Davidson® motorcycle. Fundraisers will receive all raffle entries earned at Love Ride 34 event check-in.
