Ways to Support

VBCF’s Make Moves Against Breast Cancer Campaign (MMABC) is a 5k Walk/Run challenge for women and men who are ready to take action against breast cancer and make a difference for Virginians. The Western Region Walk/Run will take place on the Huckleberry Trail in Blacksburg and brings together individuals, families, and local organizations who want to raise awareness, honor loved ones, and support the thousands of Virginians affected by breast cancer each year.

With every mile, participants help educate their networks about breast health and raise funds to support lifesaving resources, education, and advocacy across Virginia.

Ending breast cancer takes all of us. For the Western Region MMABC event, we’re calling on businesses, nonprofits, schools, and community groups to rally behind our participants and help fuel this important work. Below are ways you can get involved and make a meaningful impact.

SPONSORSHIP

Our event would not be possible without the generous support of our Sponsors.  We have opportunities ranging from $100 to $10,000, including an exclusive Presenting Sponsor level. Sponsorship benefits include logo recognition on event materials, social media, signage along the route, inclusion in event emails, and more.

To learn more about sponsorship opportunities, please contact us. We would love to partner with you.

CHEER

A 5K may be familiar to many, but completing it while fundraising, honoring loved ones, or sharing your “Why I Make Moves” story can be an emotional and empowering journey. Our participants need encouragement along the trail!

Businesses and community groups are invited to set up cheer stations along the Huckleberry Trail. Bring signs, music, decorations, bubbles, or anything uplifting to help participants stay energized and finish strong. The public is welcome and encouraged to cheer as well.

If you’d like to host a cheer station, reach out to Antonia so she can assist with logistics.

DONATE

Can’t attend but still want to make an impact? You can support a participant or team by donating to their fundraising pages, or you can give directly to VBCF’s MMABC campaign.

Registration for the event is open until April 25, 2026 (those registering on April 15, 2026, are not guaranteed shirts), and fundraising continues throughout the event period. Every dollar raised stays in Virginia and supports our mission.

ABOUT VBCF

The Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation is statewide and state-based. We are dedicated to the eradication of breast cancer. We serve Virginians through all stages of breast cancer: from screening and diagnosis to treatment and survivorship. Each year, we reach tens of thousands of Virginians across the state with our educational programs, newly diagnosed kits, free educational materials, targeted resources on vbcf.org, and through one-on-one conversations at health fairs and events. We also advocate at the state and national level for the collective needs of those affected by breast cancer.

In 2022, we created the Southwest Virginia Screening and Diagnostic Fund to help uninsured and underinsured individuals pay for much needed services like screening and diagnostic mammograms, biopsies, ultrasounds, and MRIs.  We also added a Resource Coordinator to help all Virginians get the care they need and find resources, whether it is during diagnosis, treatment, or through survivorship.
