Heroes come in all shapes and sizes. At Nemours Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders (NCCBD), our heroes are the kids that face cancer, sickle cell disease, hemophilia and other blood disorders every day.

The 2022 Young Heroes 5K Run and Walk will raise funds for research and patient services in the NCCBD at Nemours Children's Hospital, Delaware. In addition to the race, the morning will be filled with a family fun activities, entertainment and food!

This event also will celebrate the NCCBD’s 30th anniversary. One of the largest pediatric cancer centers in the country, the NCCBD offers patient- and family-centered pediatric oncology and hematology care, including the full range of clinical and support services alongside internationally recognized research programs.

Our widely renowned center enrolls more children into National Cancer Institute trials than nearly any other pediatric hospital in the United States. NCCBD specialists work together to care for kids with sarcomas, neuroblastomas, blood cancers and blood diseases such as sickle cell. In fact, we are the country’s only National Institutes of Health Center of Biomedical Research Excellence for sickle cell disease research.

Whether you run or walk, you will help children like our 2022 Young Heroes Ambassadors — Caleb, David, Alaijah and others — and benefit countless kids with cancer and blood disorders.

You can join us as an individual or participate on a team. All participants who register by September 30th will receive a commemorative race T-shirt, and we will offer fundraising incentives along the way.

Please refrain from saying, wearing or displaying signs, symbols or language that may be offensive to others present at the event. Nemours Children’s reserves the right to request that individuals or groups remove items from view that are offensive and to deny participation in the event to those groups or individuals who do not comply.
