I am very excited to be participating in the “Young Heroes 5K Run & Walk" on October 23, 2022, to raise funds for the Nemours Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Nemours Children's Health. As many of you know, my niece Oakley has been undergoing a lot since Christmas Eve of last year. She had to go through many blood transfusions, and treatments while she waited for her bone marrow donor. She still has a long journey ahead of her, but is such a little fighter that I know she will beat any obstacle that comes at her.

Sadly, cancer and blood disorders touch so many children’s lives.  These little heroes need to endure harsh treatments and numerous days in the hospital.  They have to miss the little joys of childhood from playing on the swings, watching movies on the couch with their siblings, and even spending the holidays at home.

My hope is that we will find cures and better treatments so they live long and healthy lives.  I believe every child deserves the chance of a healthy future.
