My 2022 Bank of America Chicago Marathon Journey

I believe that everyone should have access to nutritious food, but nearly 1 in 7 individuals in Northern Illinois is food insecure. That's why for my 2020 marathon journey I've decided to link arms with Northern Illinois Food Bank whose mission is to lead the Northern Illinois community in solving hunger by providing nutritious meals to those in need through innovative programs and partnerships. For every $1 donated, Northern Illinois Food Bank can help provide $8 worth of groceries. I invite you to do incredible things with me this year. Please consider joining me on the course or supporting me with a donation that will help me reach my goal in providing $10,000 worth of groceries. Together We Can Solve Hunger. Thank you!

Please Help Me Reach My Goal

UPDATE: I DID run the 2020 Chicago Marathon, but like everything else that year it was virtual. So I ran it along a route near my house, cheered on by my family and several friends who coordinated meet-up points with me along the way, to cheer me on and sometimes run or bike with me for a stretch. But since I received a deferred entry ticket, and I had actually wanted to experience the Chicago marathon in person, here we are again in 2022.

Now more than ever, Northern Illinois Food Bank needs support in reaching all the neighbors who need help. Between the pandemic and recent inflation, the number of people seeking food assistance has increased. If you can help, please consider making a donation through my fundraising page - you'll be helping me reach my goal and  helping those who need it.

Original Post from 2020:

Here's my story: I've never run more than a half marathon, and have never really wanted to, but when Northern Illinois Food Bank was accepted as one of the official 2020 charities and needed a team of at least 5 people, I thought, "why not?" I'm sure I could list off several reasons why not, but instead I'll tell you why

1. I love Northern Illinois Food Bank and their mission, vision, and values. I've worked for the Food Bank since 2011, shortly after moving to Illinois. I even sometimes volunteer for the food bank. As a food bank, we want no one to be hungry. That's a pretty basic and essential vision. I believe in it enough to run a marathon for it.

2. I turn 40 in 2020. I'm hoping to stave off a more serious mid-life crisis by creating a pre-planned one.

3. I have 3 young girls who I want to see their mother do something hard and uncomfortable.

There's my short list. I hope you'll consider making a donation, both to help me reach my fundraising goal AND, more importantly, to help Northern Illinois Food Bank with their mission to help solve hunger.

Thank you for reading and considering a donation to help me reach my goal!
