When I was 17 years old, a routine wisdom teeth removal led to a life-changing diagnosis of Hemophilia A. At the time, I didn’t know anyone else living with a bleeding disorder, and I had no one who truly understood what I was going through. For years, I felt like I was navigating this new reality on my own.

That changed when I attended Camp Hemotion for the first time. Walking into camp, I was blown away by how many kids, counselors, and mentors shared stories that felt just like mine. For the first time, I saw that life doesn’t end with a diagnosis. Instead, it opens the door to connection, confidence, and community.

These past three years, I’ve had the privilege of being part of the Camp Hemotion team as the NorCalBDF representative and director. Camp Hemotion holds a special place in my heart because it gives kids a space to be understood, to build independence, and to see what’s possible for their future.
