Eunice and I are racing 10 kilometers in support of girls' education. Any money we raise goes directly to Daraja Academy in Kenya and Eunice's education. Thank you for your help! Or, as they say in Kenya, ASANTE SANA!
Eunice is a 14-year-old Kikuyu girl from Nyeri and will graduate from Daraja with the Class of 2028! She lives with her mother and five siblings. Their home is a single-room stone rental, with cushions used to divide the space into a bedroom and living area. Her mother was not able to complete her education. Growing up, Eunice and her family have consistently struggled to meet basic needs, with school fees and rent posing constant challenges. To walk to school, it would take Eunice about an hour, though the journey would often be extended due to floods.
At her previous school, she had already begun working toward her dream of becoming the president of Kenya. She served as a class prefect, guided by a strong belief in treating everyone fairly. She aspires to be a great leader and to change negative perceptions around girls’ education, while working to reduce illiteracy in her country. Outside of leadership, Eunice loves dancing and playing football. Eunice describes Daraja as not just a scholarship, but a golden opportunity for her.
