Gift and I are racing 10 kilometers in support of girls' education. Any money we raise goes directly to Daraja Academy in Kenya and Gift's education. Thank you for your help! Or, as they say in Kenya, ASANTE SANA!
Gift Wangare is a 15-year-old Kikuyu girl from Nakuru City and will graduate from Daraja with the Class of 2028. At home, she lives with her mother, older sister, and younger brother in a house made of plaster (a mix of mud and cement). Her mother was unable to complete primary school due to financial challenges, and during Gift’s own primary education, hunger and being sent home for unpaid fees were common experiences.
Despite these challenges, Gift served as a peer teacher at school, stepping in when subject teachers were late or absent. She dreams of becoming a judge to uphold justice and fight against corruption in Kenya.
Beyond her ambitions, Gift finds joy in seeing her family happy and stress-free. She also enjoys reading and listening to music.
