RMHC's mission is to create, find and support programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children and their families.

In August of 2017, I began working part time as a House Associate with Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern Iowa & Western Illinois in Iowa City. Prior to my employment, I had very little knowledge about the organization. I had volunteered to cook dinner a few times and I had seen the donation boxes at McDonald's growing up, but that was about it. During my year and a half at RMHC-EIWI, I developed meaningful relationships with families, volunteers and staff members, as well as a strong passion for the organization’s mission.  

After graduating from the University of Iowa in May 2019, I moved to Kansas City, MO and found myself applying for an opportunity to work at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City. In January of 2020, I began working full time as a Family Services Coordinator at the Longfellow House, which is one of three houses on RMHC-KC's campus. Through this opportunity, I have been able to pick up where I left off in Iowa City and continue making a difference for our families.

As I reflect on my involvement with RMHC, to say that I am passionate about the organization’s mission is an understatement. I have seen firsthand the impact this organization has on hundreds of families and it is one of the greatest feelings knowing that I get to be a part of it.
