This year the Observatory lost a lifetime supporter with the passing of Paul Fitzgerald.
Paul dedicated his adult life to service. Service to his family, to his colleagues and clients, and to his passions - and Mount Washington and the Observatory were a principal focus of Paul’s passions.
Paul’s dedication to the Observatory was legendary. He served as an Executive Committee member, Governance Committee Chair, Search Committee Chair, corporate Secretary, Board of Trustees Chair and Observatory President among other posts. Such was Paul’s service that he is among the only three individuals the Trustees have recognized with the Observatory’s Founders Award. He was a long-time member of the Mount Washington Commission, and was proud to say he held the seat once filled by former Governor Sherman Adams.
This event - Seek the Peak - held a special place in Paul’s heart. Over many years Paul and Cheryl were fixtures in the Observatory tower welcoming successful hikers and sharing information about and love for the Observatory with all they encountered.
Please join me in honoring Paul’s memory and passion by sponsoring my Seek the Peak climb of Mount Washington this year.
Thank you for your support!
