I'm taking steps to improve my own sleep by participating in My Very Own Bed’s Steps for Sleep - a community wellness event on Saturday, September 13 at DeLaSalle High School. Physical exercise improves our sleep, and sleep helps us perform better and improves our overall health.
I'm also taking steps to support kids' healthy sleep by fundraising for My Very Own Bed, a 501(c)(3) non-profit that provides new beds and Dream Kits (bedding, book, and stuffed animal) to children who need them - most of whom have recently moved out of homelessness into more stable housing. The kids receiving beds of their own have been sleeping on the floor or an air mattress or sharing a bed with a parent or sibling. In their new beds, they are sleeping better, which, in turn, helps them heal, grow, and thrive.
