My beautiful mother lost her fight with CJD on November 12, 2018. I watched my mother slip away from me a little bit each day for 9 months until she could no longer speak or care for herself. Heartbreaking doesn't even begin to describe it.

8 months post her death I still think about her every day. I go through start to finish how this disease started, how it progressed and replay the end often. Again, heartbreaking. I know I will continue to do this for a lifetime.

CJD doesn't define or take away from who my mother was. She was one a million. Bigger than this one in a million that CJD claims to be. She was our Super Woman. She never stopped. She never stopped taking care of her family, her friends, and complete strangers through her work as a social worker. I often didn't know where she found the drive and energy to accomplish all that she did. Super Woman. 

She is and has always been my inspiration and my role model. She was an amazing wife, mother and Gigi. She always showed me how loved I was and made me feel like I could always do anything. She was my best friend.

As a family we wanted to complete this walk for a second year to continue to raise funds for this cruel, deadly disease. We hope that my raising funds that someday there will be a cure for this deadly disease and no longer will people have to see their loved ones disappear before their eyes until they are gone.
