My Personal Fundraising Page

Rosa Ayala, a beloved mother of five, was diagnosed with Creutzfeld-Jakob Disease (CJD) about a year ago, a diagnosis that brought immense challenges and heartache to her family. Sadly, Rosa passed away on October 2, 2023, just a few months after her diagnosis. Despite the rapid progression of this rare and devastating condition, Rosa's spirit and the love she inspired in those around her remain a source of strength. She had a passion for travel, exploring new places, and creating cherished memories with her loved ones. In her honor, we are rallying to raise funds and awareness for CJD research and support, hoping to make a difference for others affected by this challenging disease. Rosa's legacy continues to inspire us as we strive to combat this illness and support families going through similar experiences.

About Strides for CJD

Strides for CJD is an annual walk/run to raise awareness of Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD), a rare neurodegenerative disease that has no treatment or cure. Through this event, anyone -- anywhere -- can pay tribute to their loved ones and raise funds for the CJD Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization.

Funds raised support our programs including:

  • Our 24/7 helpline, support groups, conference, and other family programs throughout the year.
  • Research grants to help scientists make important discoveries and bring us closer to a cure.
  • Medical education to help raise awareness and understanding of prion disease.
