ALL animals need protection!

I grew up on a farm. I went on to work with animals in various ways, from working in a slaughterhouse on a dare to being a Drug Rep and sometimes going out on farms with vets, to help treat sick and dying livestock. I stopped eating meat. I went on to haul cattle & pigs from the western provinces to Ontario, the majority to be slaughtered. If the horrendous long journey in temperatures anywhere from minus 30 to plus 30 Celcius wasn't bad enough, unloading pigs and cows at the slaughterhouse was. The guilt I feel for every one of those animals that were poked, prodded and electroshocked off the trailers with high-voltage cattle prods will stay with me forever as well as some of the animals that died in transit. I soon learned that there is no protection for food animals.
