When my son Patrick Miles House took his own life on February 10, 2017 the world that I knew came crashing down around me.      I had just started my Family to Family class with NAMI and had benefitted so much from it.

The support that group gave me after my son's death gave me just another reason to carry on and believe in the mission of NAMI.      They reached out to me and indicated that they wanted to walk that year in honor of my son so that was the first year we had our team "Miles for Pat'.

This is now our 3rd year walking and I appreciate any support for this worthwhile organization where all monies raised benefits EVERYONE affected by mental illness.

We all participate in the Walk for different reasons; some may walk to celebrate their own recovery. Some walkers are supporting family members or friends who live with a mental illness. Some may walk in memory of a loved one. The Walk is an important way to help fight the stigma of mental illness, and demonstrate our support to the community.

The other side of the Walk is the money we raise. Over 90% of the funds raised by the Walk go to support the signature programs that we provide at no charge to participants.
