Dear Friends & Family,

Please join in my support of the upcoming National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Connecticut Walk that will take place on May 18, 2019 at Sherwood Island National Park in Westport, CT. My team name is “walkthisway” -- thanks to my daughter, Charlotte, in helping me figure out a catchy name; I won’t mention my other choices :). I’m writing to ask you to consider either: (1) joining team walkthisway if you live nearby and would like to participate with my team in the walk, or (2) donating to my team’s fundraising efforts.

We all have a great reason to either participate in this walk or to donate to NAMI’s efforts generally: at least 20 percent or more people in the United States are affected by mental illness at any given time. NAMI walk-a-thons nationwide offer a chance to help raise awareness about the need for mental health services, and to help eliminate the stigma and discrimination associated with mental illness. Funds raised through team walkthisway and other teams across Connecticut will help to continue NAMI Connecticut’s life-changing and cost-free support, education and advocacy services for individuals and families who are affected by mental illness in our state.

Team walkthisway hopes to raise $2,500 or more via team member participation and donations associated with the May 18 NAMI CT Walk in Westport, CT. I respectfully ask you to either join with or donate to my team (no donation is too small – and no pressure, of course).
