I first learned of Environmental Racism as a Highschool student. I remember feeling powerless and wondered how would we solve these problems. How could these injustices be stopped and prevented going forward? I saw that these issues often led to illness and chronic disease. This understanding partly led me to go into medicine. I quickly learned that treating the disease after the exposure wasn't enough. I wanted to help stop the exposure. This was a different kind of work. By the time I had become a physician, we spoke of the Environmental Justice Movement. Please help me to support an organization that works upstream to stop the exposure and so much more!
