In today's zoom support group, one person joyfully shared good news of being in remission.  Another had decided within the past 24 hours to stop treatment and enter hospice.  A couple of us have survived cancers for over twenty years;  our newest participant has only been at it for two months.

With compassion and skill our facilitator responds to this wide gamut, weaving us into community and making room for each of us to voice our experience, learn from one another, and provide mutual support.  Together we face the stark realities of critical illness and also figure out how to find what brings us life and joy.

For nearly four years Julie and I have spent a couple of hours each week in Wellness House's support group for people "Living with Recurrent and Metastatic Cancer."  We have benefited from additional monthly and sporadic educational classes.  Their encouragement, inspiration, and practical advice have sustained us even before, but especially throughout, the isolation of the pandemic.

All Wellness House programs are offered free of charge because of generous gifts from individuals and organizations.  Each spring--this year, May 7--Wellness House holds a fundraising walk.  

Registrants are asked to walk 1 mile, or 10 steps.  I'd like to encourage you to take a walk of appreciation for Wellness House wherever and however you'd like.

You can also support the effort by making a financial contribution.  I intend to walk a total of 10,000 steps on May 7.  I hope that you will match my steps with a penny, a nickel, a dime, or even a dollar.
