On Saturday August 10, I will be swimmin' across Cayuga Lake in the annual Women Swimmin' for Hospicare. This event is the biggest fundraiser of the year for our local hospice and is key to supporting the extraordinary work they do.  

My aunt Nadine Rubenstein (pic below) benefitted greatly from her local hospice services in her final days, just over 12 years ago. Although it was so hard to let her go, she received the best kind of end-of-life support that everyone deserves, and that provided a measure of comfort and peace to those who loved her. 

I'd like to help make this kind of support available to all - regardless of financial means. No one is ever turned away from receiving services at Hospicare, regardless of their ability to pay.  

By making a pledge on my behalf, you are supporting Hospicare's mission to bring medical expertise and compassionate, respectful care to people and their loved ones at any stage of a life-threatening illness, and to provide information and education about advanced illness, dying and bereavement to the entire community. Funds raised through Women Swimmin' help provide patients with comfort measures that are not fully covered by insurance, as well as provide services to patients' families. 

Even small donations to Women Swimmin' are appreciated.  And they are tax deductible.
