My Personal Fundraising Page

Dear Friends,

This summer I will turn 70 and have made the commitment to swim across Cayuga Lake for the first time with “Women Swimmin for Hospicare” on August 10, to raise funds for our local hospice organization and center, “Hospicare”.  I’m excited to train for this and contribute to such a wonderful organization.

The swim across the lake is 1.2 miles (not counting any zig-zag swimming) in open and usually cold water, and it is a more challenging and longer swim than I have ever done in my life thus far. But I have just started training for it. Today I swam over a mile at the YMCA pool. I will up the ante a little each week to be able to swim the distance in open water, where there will not be any side of a pool to hold onto and rest. Next month I’ll start training in ponds and then in the lake, which is 435 feet deep!

❤️ In the past few years I have seen hospice services make a huge difference in the quality of life during the last weeks and months of some friends’ lives, and equally as important, seen hospice care tremendously support grieving family members!  It is so critically important. Grief counseling and support groups can make the world of a difference to those with a deep hole in their heart.

I hope you will choose to donate something to support my efforts if you can, whether it be $5, $20, $50 or if it’s not a hardship, even a bit more. My fundraising goal is $750 and every donation will help. Due to other corporate donations, every dollar raised by those of us swimming across the lake will go directly toward hospice patient and family care, education, counseling, and programming for both adults and children.

Here is a link to my fundraising page.

Note: Also, Danny will be a support kayaker with my swimming pod, and he is asked to raise funds too, so my fundraising goal is for both of us combined!

I will post updates on the page as time goes on. This fundraiser is my birthday wish this year. Thank you for considering supporting this very worthy cause!  If you have already donated to support another swimmer I understand!

I do love to swim, especially  if the water is warm, and love the beach.

I have never had a swimming lesson.

My mom could not swim and was terrified of being in the water.
