My Write-a-thon Information!

Hi there! My name is Shannon Fay. My debut novel, 'Innate Magic', is coming out this Fall from 47North. For the Clarion West 2021 Write-a-thon, I'm writing the sequel, 'External Forces'! I already have a 100k written, but as the pups say, it's ruff. I still need to write another 20k-50k to finish telling the story, and I know that the first act needs a lot of work (okay, that's not quite true: the whole thing needs a lot of work). My aim is to have a finished draft and to get it into fine enough shape that I can share it with beta readers. And if I can help raise money for Clarion West while doing so, that's double good!

My Writing Goals

Week 1 Write 1,200 words a day

Week 2- Write 1,200 words a day.

Week 3 - Keep writing! Hopefully this week reach 'the end' of the very first draft

Week 4- Go back and re-write big chunks of the first 50k, still aiming for 1,200 words a day

Week 5- Keep fine tuning the rest of the book. Write up synopsis and scene outlines.

Week 6- Cry lots, drink a little. Keep fidling with manuscript until I find the courage to send it to first readers.

I am currently working on a historcal fantasy series, The Marrowbone Spells. The first book, Innate Magic, is being published this Fall by 47 North. I am currently writing the sequel, External Forces.
