Tess was the infamous "longest resident" at the shelter when we went to adopt many years ago. I'm grateful to the staff who saw what an amazing being she was and kept her safe until we found her. Despite the shadows that chased her the first few years, her silly joy made us all laugh together. Tess was the brightest light all the way through the end, when mortality told her it was time to dim the flame. I hope there’s a bridge where she will greet me soon.
