Auntie for Team Marc, forever!
Hello Friends. It's Marc's Auntie Donna and I'm reaching out as I've been doing for the past several years to ask for your support. My goofy, energetic, HARD WORKING nephew, Marc is on the autism spectrum, so for him, managing relationships, building meaningful friendships, and navigating school and social situations takes a lot more more effort than it does for most of us. He's trying to fit in, while more often than not, others don't know how to adjust and meet him where he is. But we all keep learning -- family, friends, teachers, clinicians, and strangers. And he puts in the effort often (even as a teenager on the verge of adulthood), with the encouragement of his devoted parents and brother.
The Doug Flutie Foundation has been a constant support in Marc's life, providing resources that enable Marc to take part in important skill-building, wellness, and recreational activities, and to help cover costs of therapeutic and medical care that insurance doesn't. So Team Marc is convening again this year for the Flutie 5K, a fun family event that raises essential funds and brings families living with autism together. I will walk on October 16th and appreciate any donation you can give to the Flutie Foundation in recognition of Marc and my love for him.
And for those of you who have been following our relationships over the years, yes, we do still do monthly sleepovers--although COVID disrupted that for a good year and we just missed our first month! Riding the trains remains a favorite activity and while the MBTA has been a huge disappointment in 2022, I must share that the train and bus drivers treat Marc wonderfully and don't fail to wave, say hello, and answer his questions, without hesitation.
Thanks for reading. Thanks for your support, in any way you are able. Auntie Donna
