The Dempsey Challenge is the premier fundraising event for the Dempsey Center, a nonprofit founded by actor Patrick Dempsey. The Center improves the lives of people impacted by cancer by supporting their physical, emotional, social, familial, and functional well-being at every point in the cancer journey - all at no cost.

Your donation will help provide essential services to thousands of cancer patients, survivors, care partners, and loved ones. Gifts of any amount help ensure this support remains available for years to come.

This cause is deeply personal to me. In 1990, when I was 20 years old, I was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma the day before Thanksgiving. I quickly learned what it meant to be a cancer patient. The physical toll of chemotherapy was difficult, but the emotional stress and the collateral damage the disease caused my family were even harder. Not knowing whether I would survive was terrifying.

I was fortunate to have a social worker support me through that experience. My sister and brother did not receive the same level of help, and both experienced serious side effects from watching their brother face cancer. That is why I am so passionate about the Dempsey Center: it supports not only the patient, but the entire family.

Maine is our home, and the resources the Dempsey Center provides are extraordinary. Cancer affects one in three people, and our company, Healios Integrative Health, is not immune. Although we help many cancer patients in our community, our own company has recently been hit hard by the disease. The truth is that no one is immune to cancer.

This year, the Healios team will be out in force to raise funds. Please support the Dempsey Center and help improve the journey for the many individuals and families affected by cancer.
