Attack on Cancer
Our team name is inspired by Japanese anime series "Attack on Titan" - where humanity fights against human-eating "titans" to earn freedom (on an extremely simplified level...). Drawing a parallel between cancer and "titans", both can consume precious human lives and cause horrible suffering, Attack on Cancer team commits to paddle and fundraise hard for Dragonheart Vermont and their 2026 partner, the Cancer Patient Support Foundation, both of which provide to patients and families in our community dealing with cancer. One of the most inspiring group in "Attack on Titan" is the scouting team called "Wings of Freedom". They go outside of the high walls that keep the titans out to explore and search for answer to freedom. Before each of their expedition and battle, they do their most iconic salute - "Give your hearts!". We are trying to match that commitment and ask you to help us get there! Give your money is perfectly awesome too!
Banchors Aweigh
Many banks have a long history. Northfield Savings Bank has something even more powerful. From the day of our founding in 1867 and continuing to today, a constant and resilient thread of meeting and supporting Vermonters in the moment has defined us. This powerful legacy fuels our actions, shapes our character, and separates us from other banks and credit unions. We are proud to be Vermont’s largest local bank with 14 locations serving over 35,000 consumer and commercial customers. We are also one of Vermont’s few remaining mutual savings banks, owned by our depositors, not shareholders, and offering investment services through Northfield Investment Services. We are proud to participate in the Lake Champlain Dragon Boat Festival supporting Dragonheart Vermont and its partner, Sail Beyond Cancer VT

Dream Weavers
This year the Dream Weavers honor Vermont’s woolly past, when sheep out-numbered people. The Dream Weavers team is a true community flock woven together from folks from Burlington’s Old North End, the Vermont Weavers Guild, the Burlington Bocce Club and additional friends each of us recruited. You could say Dream Weavers is an organically grown team, bound together by a common interest in being a source of hope for community members and giving back to fellow Vermonters. On top of that, we woolly ones have dreams of earning braaa-ging rights from our paddling, decorating, and fashion feats. Dream Weavers may be the fiercest, fluffiest paddling team to ever grace Lake Champlain! We won’t baaa-ck down in the face of competition and we’re not sheepish or baaa-shful, despite our woolly appearance and team theme.

Pull Together
Captain Baki says: “I joined the First Congregational Church in Burlington in 2017 and summer of that year for the first time I was introduced to Dragonheart VT by Thea Knight, and she recruited me to paddle for the church team; PULL TOGETHER. I so much enjoyed the sport but much more than that I was touched by the mission of DHVT and support of BCS. My grandmother was a breast cancer survivor and so is my mother. So, I met with John Dyer and joined the family of DHVT .” Our church is passionate about investing in downtown Burlington, and sees the festival as a perfect way to support a good cause as well as our community all while having fun together. Our team, PULL TOGETHER FIRST CHURCH, has participated in the festival for several years. We've even won some trophies along the way! This year we are excited to include Lake Champlain Dragonboat Festival on a whole slate of waterfront activities! We are honored to be part of a community that supports this great cause, helping cancer survivors to live with hope and get the treatment they need.
Rhythm & Blues
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont’s Rhythm and Blues team will rock (but hopefully not roll!) through the waves to victory, paddling toward a healthier Vermont! DragonFire
Sport Team: Hartford’s DragonFire team has been paddling on the Connecticut River for over 15 years. In fact, they’re the only original Hartford dragon boat team still in existence (how’s that for commitment!) They began as the “lunch bunch” crew, and since that time, have grown into quite an eclectic team, with paddler ages ranging from mid-30s to mid 80s (yes, you heard that right)! Although DragonFire began as a “mostly women's” team, they continue to recruit men with a lot of heart (and a bit of muscle) to join them. This is a team that loves to paddle for fun but races to win! DragonFire is thrilled to be back in Burlington for a third year to race on beautiful Lake Champlain.
Springfield Dragon Rays
Formed from a core group of Breast Cancer Survivors, the Springfield Dragon Rays dragon boat team has grown to embrace paddlers from all walks of life. Any age (18+), fitness, and experience level is welcome! From November to April, indoor strength, flexibility, and paddle machine workouts guided by a coach help you achieve your fitness goals and get introduced to paddling technique. In warm weather, we take to the water with our coach - for fun, for recreation, to improve, and to race. Pick any, or all, when you start dragon boating at PVRC. https://www.pvriverfront.org/dragon-boating
