Hello, I'm Julie. I'm from Annapolis, MD, and my home diocese is the Archdiocese of Baltimore. On top of working full-time as an office assistant in healthcare, I'm active in Young Catholic Professionals, the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Serra International, and a multi-parish young adult ministry in my archdiocese and went to World Youth Day a few years ago. Jesus is the center of my life and my Catholic faith has really become my compass since I entered adulthood.
I became a Biking for Babies missionary because I have always loved the pro-life movement and ever since I became a young adult, I have actively sought ways to contribute to it with the gifts God gave me. I sensed God was calling me to become a pro-life missionary. The way Biking for Babies helps us become missionary disciples by putting ourselves in the shoes of women with unplanned pregnancies and going above and beyond to provide them with the resources they need to support themselves and their babies really resonated with me and still does.
Like all Biking for Babies missionary teams, my team consists of bicyclist missionaries and support crew missionaries. I'm on the Wisconsin Team and we will ride six days straight from Green Bay, WI to St. Louis, MO, to raise money for the mission of Biking for Babies. By embarking on this mission, displaying pro-life symbols on our gear and wearing pro-life themed t-shirts and jerseys, we will be sharing our mission, rooted in the Gospel of life, at all the places we stop at and pass through, including the pregnancy resource centers we will visit and speak at, along the way. These pregnancy resource centers really need resources to help women with unplanned pregnancies choose life, find ways to support themselves and their babies, and keep their eyes on Jesus. Services provided at pregnancy resource centers could include counseling, job placement support, spiritual support, medical treatment, and materials for babies. These women's situations are real and not to be taken lightly, and it would be my honor to share this mission with you all.
