Hello! My name is Katie Wanek and I am a 6th year support crew missionary with Biking for Babies! I am from Denmark, WI. For fun, I like reading, writing and sharing about my faith on my blog, going on walks, enjoying some good donuts and ice cream, and being involved at my parish!
I served as a Biking for Babies missionary in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023. I had initially joined because the invitation to put my pro-life beliefs into action and serve others seemed like a great opportunity. I kept returning because of the amazing community, the spiritual transformations, the immense joy, and the ability to help women, babies, and pregnancy resource centers while sharing the Gospel of life! After much discernment, I applied again this year after an invitation from a staff member to consider returning. After hearing a homily from my priest about choosing selfishness or choosing to love and trust Jesus, I knew the Lord was calling me to be challenged and stretched again, to grow in discipline and service, and to continue to learn to respond to the promptings of the Holy Spirit, through this mission. We each have a part to play in renewing the culture of life and sharing that life is a beautiful gift! I am so excited to see how God works through the mission this year! This mission, more than almost anything else in my life, has taught me to expect the unexpected!
