We’re Lucas’s Super Poopers!
Our sweet Lucas’s journey with Nemours began when he was just a few days old. After he stopped stooling and developed a distended belly, he was transferred to the NICU at Nemours, where we learned that he had Hirschsprung disease, a condition affecting the nerves of the colon.
Since then, Nemours has been a huge part of Lucas’s story. From his NICU stay to countless appointments, procedures, and ultimately his pull-through surgery at just 7 weeks old, we’ve watched our tiny guy handle more in his first few months of life than we ever imagined.
Through it all, we’ve been incredibly grateful for the doctors, nurses, surgeons, and staff who have cared for Lucas—and for our whole family—along the way. Today, he’s growing, smiling, trying new foods, and keeping us very invested in the contents of his diapers.
We’re participating in the Nemours Fun Run/Walk as Lucas’s Super Poopers to celebrate how far he has come, support the place that has done so much for our family, and help other children and families receive the incredible care they deserve.
