I'm running to raise money for Kenwood Academy High School because I’ve seen the incredible impact it’s had on my daughter, Audrey Ellis.  Through her involvement in policy debate and lacrosse, and as she prepares to run for a leadership role in the National Honor Society, she’s continued to be a confident, driven young woman. Kenwood has provided her with nurturing teachers who not only support her but challenge her to set high expectations and reach her full potential.  Administrators and counselors have acknowledges her hard work and success, and remove barriers allowing her to take on additional, appropriate academic challenges through a rigorous courseload.  She has truly embraced her own self-efficacy as a learner and has made many strong friendships and Kenwood offers a culture of acceptance and achievment where they encourage one another to be their personal best. 

I’m also running to help increase the presence of the Friends of Kenwood Academy (FOKA) in the broader community. FOKA has the potential to be a powerful force in helping Kenwood weather ongoing funding cuts and the many challenges facing public education. By raising awareness and support, we can ensure Kenwood continues to thrive—providing current and future students with the resources, opportunities, and encouragement they need to succeed.

On a personal level, I’m running to reconnect with my own love of running after taking some time off. It’s a way for me to care for my physical and mental health, and to set and pursue a goal that inspires me. This journey is about giving back, but it’s also about growing forward—and I’m proud to run for both reasons.
