“A Place to Belong” for NSSRA (Northern Suburban Special Recreation Association), that is the impact with your help and support. As you may know, I have been fortunate to work closely with NSSRA staff and participants over the last 3 years as the Park District of Highland Park’s NSSRA liaison and recently over the last 10 months, as a board member and Chair of Engagement on NSSRA’s Associate Board. NSSRA offers over 500 annual programs and provides inclusion services, free of cost to participant’s families, so they can enjoy and thrive in recreation programs throughout 13 local communities. NSSRA believes that everyone should have the opportunity to jump in and try something new.

NSSRA recently purchased a former synagogue in Highland Park last year and has launched its capital campaign to fund building renovations that will include welcoming recreation program spaces for participants and families to socialize and recreate in a safe and innovative space. Just recently surpassing $2M in gifts and pledges, the campaign pushes on towards helping reach the $2.2M goal so renovation work can begin.
