The Student Philanthropy Council’s mission is to educate CSUSM students and employees about philanthropy and its impact on the campus, and to raise money for the Student Philanthropy Fund Endowed Scholarship. The majority of donors to this fund are students.
Bernardo Lino received the 2019 scholarship. Lino grew up in the Coachella Valley, where his family worked in agriculture. Even Lino got his start in the fields at age 12, picking bell peppers. As the first in his family to attend college, Lino strives to be a role model to his siblings and other students. He’s a peer mentor for the College Assistance Migrant Program, helping other student from farm worker backgrounds navigate their college experience. The scholarship helps reduce the financial burden on Lino and his family.
“By receiving this scholarship, I can work less and focus more on school,” Lino says.
Help students like Lino excel by making a gift to the Student Philanthropy Fund Endowed Scholarship.
