The Jewish Faculty and Staff Association's purpose is to serve the campus Jewish community, to foster fellowship and cooperation among its members and related organizations, and to promote Jewish culture. In the last year, these needs have become crucial, as anti-Semitic and white supremacist acts have shaken our campus and our region. In the face of the attack on the Poway synagogue during Passover 2019, JFSA is expanding its efforts, as we commit ourselves to the adage "never again."
We plan to use our resources to host several public events over the next year that will: (1) educate the campus community about the dangers of anti-Semitism; (2) develop an understanding and appreciation for Jewish culture in all of its diversity; and (3) provide a space for community and solidarity among Jews and our allies on campus.
Through lectures, performances and/or social gatherings, we aim to help heal our community, strengthen our bonds with other marginalized groups at CSUSM, and work toward social justice.
