With every increase in tuition, more and more CSUSM students struggle to make ends meet, and with that comes a large population who are first-generation college students from low-income families. Students from underrepresented backgrounds find that paying for their college education causes a financial barrier for their families. Many of our students have to work while also striving to excel academically.
Our goal is to award a $1,000 scholarship to five outstanding undergraduates at Cal State San Marcos. The financial assistance that the Latino Faculty Staff Association provides these students will ameliorate the stress of some of the extra costs that accompany tuition, such as books and other educationally related expenses.
