Year Two of Beetle Buds Pollinator Week Fundraising!

Hey all! Thanks for visiting my fundraising page for Xerces Society during Pollinator Week. If you are here, you most likely are aware of the impact our pollinators (and various other insects!) have on our planet's health. However, did you know that our native pollinators are in serious decline? For example, at least 28% of North America’s bumble bees have undergone significant declines, including species that were formerly common and widespread, while 19% of butterflies in America are at risk of extinction (Xerces). Due to overdevelopment, intensive ag practices, pesticide usage, native plant declines, invasive species spread, disease spread, and various other factors, our pollinators (and many other invetebrates) are at serious risk. If you are unfamiliar with Xerces Society, do yourself a favor and check out their website. Besides the incredible research they conduct, they provide invaluable guidance for insect conservation that can be followed by home gardeners, plant nurseries, or farmers. They also run native plant programs, lecture series, podcasts and more. If you are able, please consider making a donation to help their work (no amount is too small) -- every dollar helps!

Butterflies, bees, dragonflies, beetles, spiders, freshwater mussels and other invertebrates sustain life as we know it. Yet many are declining due to habitat loss, pesticide use, climate change, and more. But there are steps that we can all take to help these vital animals and no action is too small.
