What a weekend it will be!

We're going to make a difference for all these Haitian kids! Two years ago I raised over $1000 for the packathon so this year I have a bigger goal. Help me raise funds to provide meals for the children we support in Haiti and consider coming to pack some meals, Thursday-Sat., Oct. 21-23! We need to raise $30,000 to pay for the food we pack, and we also need people to pack!

Let me tell you a few things about Haiti:

  • Only 60% of Haitian adults can read at a 6th grade level.
  • Their government does not provide schools to rural communities.
  • The average income is $350 per year.
  • Some children cannot count of even one meal a day.

Here's my plan:

I will be at the North Shore Packathon for Haiti on October 21,22,23 to help pack lunches for school children. We plan to provide a full-year lunch program for more than 200 kids in the Light and Peace School of St. Louis d'Ayiti, way out in the remote mountaints of Haiti.  Packathon volunteers will form assembly lines in the Parish Hall and courtyard at Christ Church of Hamilton and Wenham to pack over 100,000 meals for them. 

I want to make sure those Haitian kids can count on lunch every weekday next school year, beginning January 1, 2022

On average, every volunteer packs a box of 240 lunches. "My" box will hold $72 dollars worth of rice, beans, vegetables and vitamins, enough to feed one student for a year. So my goal is to raise over $1,500 to feed the entire 5th grade for a year.
