This little girl proudly showed us the well in St. Louis d'Ayiti--the only one we've seen in the mountains.
Volunteers at our 6th NJ event packed 115,200 meals for students in Trois Mares and Chapottin, Haiti.
Six meals to a bag, 40 bags to a box. Boxes are loaded onto shipping pallets bound for Port au Prince.
You can make a difference!
On October 21, 22, 23, we're going to pack over 100,000 school lunches for hungry kids in Haiti.
Most of the kids in St. Louis d'Ayiti come from families whose parents average $350/year working land they do not own, who cannot read, and who cannot afford even one meal for their children each day. These kids miss a lot of school helping with younger siblings or working alongside their parents. But our school lunches will boost attendance like nothing else!
Future Forward for Haiti is looking for 500 North Shore volunteers, aged 5-105. We will host six 2-hour family-friendly, educational and practical work sessions, where you'll see the problems students face in the outlying mountains of the poorest country in our hemisphere--and get busy helping them.
Our partners at Feed the Hunger will bring eight tons of ingredients, train and organize all our volunteers into assembly lines for packing, then truck the food away, ship, and deliver it to the LIght and Peace School in St. Louis d'Ayiti. Scroll down to view Packathon video.
Please register for one (or more!) packing sessions Thursday, October 21 from 6:00-8:00 pm, or Friday, October 22, 3-5pm, or 6-8pm, Saturday, October 23, 9-11am, 12-2pm, 3-5pm at Christ Church of Hamilton and Wenham,149 Asbury Street in South Hamilton. You'll be glad you did.
As we prepare for this event, we must raise $30,000 to cover the costs of:
- Rice, beans, dried vegetables and vitamins to pack (8 tons of food),
- $25,000 to build the second story of a new school
This is a free event so everyone can come help pack, but we really need your financial help. Please DONATE NOW to draw over 200 Haitian children to regular school attendance with lunch every weekday through 2022.
