I'm hiking for Faith!

Faith and I are hiking 10 kilometers in support of girls' education. Any money we raise goes directly to Daraja Academy in Kenya and Faith's education. Thank you for your help! Or, as they say in Kenya, ASANTE SANA!

Faith's Story

Faith is a 12-year-old Maasai girl from Musul village in the northern part of Laikipia and will graduate from Daraja with the Class of 2028. She was raised by her single mother in a one-room mud house and is the youngest of six children. Her mother, who never had the opportunity to attend school, earns a living by burning charcoal and is the sole provider for the family. Their rural village is affected by drought, poor roads, and limited access to clean water. Faith used to walk long distances to fetch water and get to school. She has been sent home from school many times due to lack of fees, and has often gone to bed hungry.

Despite these hardships, she has remained committed to her education. In primary school, she served as deputy school president, showing strong leadership and working to abolish gender stereotypes. She loves drawing, playing football, and being part of the conservation club. Faith dreams of becoming a mathematics teacher and describes Daraja as a place where everyone is treated equally and given the same great opportunities to succeed.
