This year on July 18th, I'm proud to once again participate in Seek the Peak, raising funds for the Mount Washington Observatory. This will be our 4th year participating in this incredible event.

Each year, this hike becomes about so much more than reaching a summit. It's in memory of my best friend, Diane, whose love of the White Mountains and dedication to the Mount Washington Observatory inspired so many people, especially me.

Honoring Diane has brought me back to the mountains year after year and reignited a love of hiking that I didn't realize I'd been missing. Every trail I hike carries a little piece of her with me.

This year our team will be hiking Wildcat, and later this summer I'm hoping to accomplish a personal goal by truly completing Mount Washington, both summiting and descending under my own power. I know she'll be with me every step of the way.

If you'd like to honor Diane's memory while supporting an organization she cared so deeply about, I'd be incredibly grateful for your support. Every donation helps the Mount Washington Observatory continue its important work helping all of us enjoy the White Mountains safely.

And on hike day, wherever you are, I hope you'll spend a little time outside. Hike a trail, any trail. Stop to admire the wildflowers, the mushrooms, or the gnarled old trees. Listen for the birds. Take pictures with the people you love. Make memories.

I truly believe that's one of the best ways to honor Diane, or whoever is a "Diane" in your own life.
