“Why We are Dipping”

River Hospital is seeing an all-time high number of patients coming through the Emergency Department for treatment this year.  With regional patient volumes and diversion issues we are serving a larger population of patients and many more are requiring a higher level of care, while in our ED.   

We currently have 5 Philips cardiac monitors, and nine Emergency Rooms in the ED.  Over the past year we have seen an influx in patient volume and severity of illness.  On daily basis we are needing to monitor multiple patients at the same time, requiring additional monitoring equipment. 

Funds raised by this year’s Polar Bear Dip will allow us to purchase two additional cardiac monitors, and improve our Emergency Department’s ability to serve our community and increasing ED volumes.

Dipping for River Hospital!

The Polar Bear Dip has been raising money for River Hospital in Alexandria Bay, NY for over 30 years. By joining this event you are joining thousands of people who have made a difference for River Hospital over the years. This year, more than ever no matter how you dip what is important is that you help us continue the Dip tradition for River Hospital! We really do need your help and appreciate all your amazing support over the years! This year’s funding will support resources for the Emergency Department, including additional cardiac monitors which are critical to the hospital’s COVID-19 response efforts.

This year’s Virtual Polar Bear Dip goal is $50,000.
