On August 7, 2023, just days before what would have been my 12th Women Swimmin' for Hospicare, I tested positive for covid and had to quarantine and miss the swim. (I also felt like hot garbage so even if I wasn't contagious, I would't have felt up to swimming 1.2 miles across the lake. Covid was no joke.) Instead of picking up my packet and joining my fellow swimmers at the crack of dawn, I was taking paxlovid and sulking. As it turned out, bad weather the morning of the swim shut everything down (I SWEAR I HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS.)
Last year, I wanted to honor my cousin Lisa, who has been there for me from my very first Women Swimmin', increasing her support every year. Not only was I crushed to not be able to swim last year, I was so disappointed I didn't have a chance to honor Lisa as I wanted.
So I'm extra-excited and eager for this year's swim! I'm swimming with renewed fervor and delight and so proud to honor my wonderful cousin, Lisa Perrault Conover!
